Uncle
Horror Stories - Uncle
This is a story about a relative of mine who stayed in Malaysia. Two houses away from my relative's home there lived an old man, he had passed away recently and his family members held a wake. As he was a well liked person when he was alive, alot of people came to pay their last respects to him.
A cousin of the deceased had just returned from Australia with her child (about 6 years old, mixed blood caucasian and asian) to pay her respects, as well as to visit her relatives. It was the child's first trip to Malaysia and he could only understand english.
On the first night when the priest was doing the rites, the child was sitting in the house with the rest of the relatives who were catching up with each other. Suddenly he said "The uncle from the picture is sitting over there by himself, why don't you all chat with him?" and he pointed to a chair at a corner of the living room.
Everyone was dumbfounded but kept quiet and his mum said to him "It's ok, we will chat with him later.". But in everyones' mind they knew that the child could have probably seen the deceased and they were frightened. However, everything proceeded smoothly but his mum kept asking him where was the 'uncle' and what was he doing. The kid just said that the he was always there with their relatives, sometimes he would be seen in the living room, sometimes near the coffin which was located outside the house.
On the following morning of the funeral procession, the kid told his mum and the other relatives that the 'uncle' was following the van (which contained the coffin) and leaving the house.
