Never Going Home
Horror Stories - Never Going Home
She happened to be a hitchhiker, that's how they met. Today was their wedding day and they were already two hours late to the reception due to faulty GPS directions. They were driving along a windy you gain road trying to find something. It was too dark, the headlights barely would show you the turns. Just as they took the steepest turn of them all, they nearly ran over a teenage girl standing in the middle of the road.
Slamming on the brakes and swerving out of the way the car had missed her and skidded along the guard rail. The girl was struck with terror. Her blue dress was completely torn to bits as scrapes all over her arms were oozing blood. She walked with a limp, she briefly held out her thumb to them, asking the newly weds for a ride. With the husband behind the wheel the car took off.
"We nearly killed the poor girl and your just going to leave her there?" The wife argued.
"She'll be fine." The wife glared at him. "Fine, as if I haven't made enough mistakes picking up hitchhikers."
Without another word they returned to the poor girl. "Thank you so much. My parents are going to kill me for getting back so late." She explained to us where she lived. "It's about ten miles down the road, a little white house with rose bushes next to a gas station."
"We're late enough." The husband whined under his breathe.
Ten miles layer they arrived at a small white house where and old couple were sorting on the porch.
"There you go . . . She disappeared." They looked around the back seat, only the taste of blood lingered in their car.
"May I help you folks." The old man come over to the car.
"There was a girl, she asked for a ride here but," the wife started.
"Ah, the ghost hitchhiker. She was murdered fifty years ago, always ve back on the day of her death to ask for a ride to her old home." The man explained.
"Are you her parents?" The wife asked.
"No, those folks killed themselves after ten years of dealing with people coming down talking about their daughter. Sorry to make your evening glumly, at least there are people like you guys willing to help. Thank you, have a good night folks."
The couple were completely dumbfounded. One small fight about hitchhikers later and the newly weds never made it to the reception, after driving straight off a cliff. Now every year on the day of death of those murdered for hitchhiking come out to relive their final moments on repeat, never moving on to letting go.
