Joelma building is one of the most impressive buildings in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Burned for more than four hours on February 1, 1974, this tragedy caused 345 injuries and 189 people died. Even today the supernatural experts believe that this place is surrounded by unusual spiritual energy. The witnesses said Joelma building is a building that is cursed.
In 1948, there was a house that will be the building Joelma. There lived a professor of chemistry, Paul Campbell who was 26 years old along with his mother and two sisters. Paul then shot and killed his mother and his sisters, and buried them in a hole that was in the backyard. After that Paul take his own life. Police investigating the case have two theories about this murder. The first is that this family does not accept the presence of his girlfriend in his family. The second Paul killed his mother and two sisters because they have a serious health problem and he did not want to take care of them.
The Mystery of death of the whole family were never revealed. After the discovery of the bodies of the family, the firefighters also became a victim from the curse of the house and died because of infection touches the corpse. In 1972, the house was built into a modern building with 20 floors. Because the crime occurred in the past, the house number were changed, but the curse was never forgotten.
On February 1, 1974, 8:45 am, a short-circuit from the temperature control room in the building begin sparks. With no way out, the people who live inside it became panicked. The heat flames inside the building even reach 700 degrees Celsius and some from the its occupants jumped out from the top of a building. it was fire totally destroyed the Joelma. There was no spray of water from the fire department to reach the top of a building, they are only reach most of the building only.
13 people trying to escape by elevator, but it was did not also save them. The bodies could not be identified and then immediately buried together side by side at the cemetery St. Peter in town. The Thirteenth of the bodies found it was then led to the mystery of the thirteen souls.
After the fire, the building was closed for 4 years for the improvement. When reopened, the building has been named the Plaza of the Flag. The witnesses said that the spirits of curiosity is still often seen in this building until now. Joelma building used to have a lot of empty rooms boundaries, and this gives an opportunity to keep the spirits inhabit it. The story of the old Joelma is still a great mystery.
