Shades of Death Road at Warren County, New Jersey, United States is said to be haunted road. Its location close to Jenny Jump State of Forest and the Ghost Lake. In the 1990s, the two people tells the story to the Weird NJ magazine about the discovery of Polaroid photographs are scattered at the streets.
No one knows for sure how the Shades of Death Road get that terrible name. Some people said, for many years ago, the trees along the road, grow and form a roof (canopy) of nature as not to allow the sun pierced the streets. Along the day, the streets are mostly shrouded in the darkness such as night.
Robbers and villains may be hiding behind the shadows of the trees on either side, in disguise waiting for their victims. When someone passes there, these villains would be out of the darkness and kills its victims. They then ransacked the whole treasure until no left.
Local residents also often do revenge against the robbers with lure them and leave the body hanging under the trees over there as a warning to other herd. Today, the vines seemed to be a trapper nets hanging from the branches of the lush trees.
According to the legend, at the 1920s and 1930s there was a brutal murder occurred around the streets. A salesmen (seller of pots and pans) were slaughtered right there with the horse he was riding. His body was later abandoned on the roadside. It is said that when the night falls, you will hear the sound of pots and pans that infringe each other such as how the the salesman sell goods.
Someone else was found dead in his car. His head was hit with the jack and the money was stolen. Also a woman who killed her husband over there and then bury its head and the body in a different place on the street. The original inhabitants over there, named Bill Cummins was also shot and his body was buried in a muddy puddle that was there. The killer was never revealed.
Shades of Death Road has many turns and bends that are dangerous. Many people say that the street is the point of a fatal accident prone. They believe that the existing barrier rail along the road signifies the people who've died due to accidents that occurred in the road.
The other legends tell about the ghost of a little girl aged 9 years roaming along the road at night. It is said that if you stop the car and she saw you over there, she will come to you and ask you of a question that is where her parents. If you do not answer or just leave, said you would be condemned died within of 40 days. You have to give him of a answer even if you do not know the truth. Appoint of a direction and she will go away. Nobody knows what happened to him, but the people believe that the girl had been kidnapped from their parents and killed in the streets of Shades of Death Road.
