The historic old town named Beelitz is located in the southern Potsdam, Brandenburg, Germany. In 1247, when the parish church of Saint Mary and Saint Nicholas was already there, population still about 11,000 people. But gradually increased since the church became a place of pilgrimage so Beelits starts getting crowded.
In the late 1800s, when Berlin infected with disease, Beelitz population is increasing rapidly. When it finally struck the Tuberculosis, an architect Heino Schmeiden draw a plan to create a place where there is room treatment (sanitorium) to quarantine and treat people with the disease. Beelitz-Heilstatten is the name of the treatment room and also a complex area of the city where it is established.
A sanitarium building was standing with several rooms that can accommodate about 600 beds and a balcony that circulate air so that patients can enjoy the clean air which is the basis of treatment of tuberculosis patients. The next several years, many buildings were set up in place to support treatment. The buildings that are new to this place of restaurants, post office, baker, butcher, house of plants, even a power generator was established.
At the beginning of the First World War, the sanitarium was used as a military hospital for the German soldiers. At the hospital, many people were treated for battle including Adolf Hitler when it was still 27 years old. He was wounded in the Battle of the Somme by an explosion, wounding his thigh.
Until the end of World War II after that, some of the buildings of the complex is used as a center for research and treatment for persons that suffer from Parkinson's disease and some other buildings controlled by private after the renovation. The rest was left abandoned and slowly fragile.
Today the buildings of abandoned it to be crowded, ghost hunters, or anyone interested in history. Some hospital facilities still left abandoned, slowly damaged, such as a test seat, surgical lights, beds and other furniture that reminded the visitor to the activities that ever happened in there.
No one knows how many lives have been dead within the walls of the buildings that exist are here. One time, the serial killings also occurred around this place. The killer slay the victim in the woods near the hospital area. It is estimated that there are thousands of lives have been dead around here include the serial killings.
Another murder that occurred in this place, occurred in 1998 when a photographer and a model goes into the old hospital and hit him to death right at the gate of the former sanitarium. The killer then do activities on the victims.
Because of its long history and gloom, some ghost stories developed out of this place as sounds that commonly heard from inside the old buildings such as when the guard conduct examination a sudden, the doors were open when they have just shut it down, or doorknob that held by an invisible hand slowly opened the door but no one is on the other side.
One of the most interesting story happened to a girl of German descent named Anne, that visited this place several years ago. At that time she still a teenager, when she and four friends heard about this old hospital building and finally decided to check it out.
Some of the rooms easily accessible but some are a bit difficult but they made it through. When they were in one operating room that is old, Anne heard someone asking him to take a scalpel. This request is spoken in German. She turned to her friends to ask why they need a scalpel but nobody was there because her friends have gone.
Next she was heard them shouted her name and when they do, they also tell the strange events that they experienced. They all went into the operating room and after looking in a few minutes, they were all out. Together they visited another room for about a half hour, and then one from them realized that Anne was not with them anymore.
The most curious thing is her friends swear that she immediately appear exactly when they call her name when they realized she was not there.
Anne did not leave the operating room and did not go into the other room, but she was knew she was alone in the operating room for about a half hour but for Anne feels just a few minutes. The incident was before she held a scalpel by a person that can not be seen by her, before she was realized that she was alone in the room.
