The Mannequin

Horror Stories - The Mannequin
It was silent. The only sound throughout the whole entire Gateway Mall was only the security guards footsteps, and they were growing closer to my hiding place. My friend beside me was moving around, trying to get comfortable.

"Stop Tommy!" I whispered.

"Shh Kyle," he demanded.

Tommy definitely didn't care about being caught. Me though, I cared about college, a criminal record, my mom! Tommy then jammed his elbow into my rib and I flew from the hiding spot, out into the open. The security guard thankfully wasn't paying attention but before I could even get up, his flashlight was beaming into my eyes. I squinted and whined. Before I could give up Tommy's hiding place, the police officer dragged me away.

The officer turned a corner and began shuffling through one of his pockets to find the keys to the security office when a low rustle of movement came from one of the stores. The officer and I looked at each other confused. I knew why I was confused. There were bars covering each inch of glass to the store, so there was no way that Tommy was in there. Also, it was a sports store. Tommy definitely wasn't in there. I had no clue why the cop was confused though.

"So you're not alone are you?" the officer grumbled.

"What?! I thought I was the only one here," I lied to the officer.

The mall-cop bought my little story and locked me in the security room. To pass some time, I examined the monitors. Everything was calm and silent. I didn't even see the officer looking for Tommy in the sports store, or a random stranger if it wasn't Tommy, which I was pretty sure of.

While the officer chased after whoever it was in the sports store, I tried to keep my focus on the security cameras and not on my arrest. Everything was so dark, eerie, and silent. Then I heard a sound like scratching on a chalk board, or glass even. I cringed at the noise and looked to see where it had come from on the camera. Then I heard a elder mans cry for help. I turned to see a blood drenched mall cop trying to unlock the security room door while banging on the window at the same time, leaving crimson hand prints where he pounded. I gasped but then noticed something coming up from behind him.

I couldn't really make out what was lurking behind him, but I couldn't make out any facial features on the person, or thing. The shadow creeping from behind disappeared. The officer kept turning around as if to make sure he was alone. I was debating letting the officer in, scared that if whoever had done that to him was going to try and do the same to me. I was most definite that Tommy hadn't done that. Then a gruesome thought flashed through my mind. If whoever was doing this to the cop was doing this, did that mean that the same thing had happened to Tommy. I hadn't heard any screams though so I decided not to believe that.

My mind was filled with bickering involving letting the dying officer into the security room. I went to grab the door knob and unlock it when something skinny, tall, and pale jumped at the cop with it's arms and legs in the air. I poked my head up at the window and a mannequin head banged against the window. I screamed (like a man) and flew back, knocking half of the security computers over and keyboards off the desk.

The head fell and the doorknob rattled. I searched for another way out until my eyes until I noticed the red gleaming words 'Exit' above a push door. I turned back to the main entrance to see if anything was standing outside the door and the rattling stopped. I sprinted towards the exit door but stopped short when medal clangs coming from the door. I then realized that the person outside the main door had gone to the exit but when I got back to the main door, the mannequin head was there. This was really beginning to confuse me. Why was the person using the mannequin head to block what he was doing.

"Help!" I heard come from the exit door. Then I realized who's voice it was. Tommy's! I sprinted back down to the exit door and pushed it open. Tommy was drenched in blood, tears, and sweat. Before Tommy could get into the door and I could ask what had happened I noticed a mannequin. The mannequin was doing something explainable. The mannequin was running towards us. It had blood stains on it and it was fully undressed. Also, it left bloody footprints where it had last stepped. The creature revealed it's sharp as knife fingernails and lunged itself at Tommy.

I watched as blood made a puddle around the two of them until the thing made eye contact with me. I tried to close the door behind me but the creatures hands were lunged in the door. No matter how hard I tried to close the door it wouldn't budge. I cried in agony as fear ran through my veins. My adrenaline was high and my train of thought had fallen off it's tracks.

Finally, the door had clenched shot. To my dismay the creatures hand had detached. Only in my dismay because the creatures hand was still freaking moving! The hand chased me down the dark hall and back to the main door where it lunged into my leg. I screamed (again manly) as I fell to the carpeted floor. The hand pulled from my leg and began crawling up my body. I noticed one of the computers besides my head, grabbed it, and slammed it into the hand, thrashing the mannequin hand into the floor. I left the computer atop the hand, hoping that the hand would be crushed. That's when I finally noticed something, the main entrance to the security room had been opened. That meant that a mannequin was inside. I got up as fast as I could.

Then I saw the security guards body. Then I saw his head... by his feet. Blood was everywhere. Crimson had ruined the beautiful marble floors of the mall. I fell back, trying to swallow my chunks when I bumped into it. It growled, I screamed, it lunged at me, and I wobble-ran away. I tried to close the door behind me but wasn't quick enough. The creature jumped out and just missed me.

The glass doors to the sports store were already shattered, but another hole was made by the mannequin when he tried to lunge itself at me once again. I wobble-ran until I fell into the water fountain. The crystal clear water turned to a crimson pond. My white shirt was ruined and my skin was stained. My dark hair was filled with sweat that dripped into the blood water.

The creature screeched and jumped from the broken window of the sports store. I stumbled trying to escape the water fountain but ended up face first in my blood water. I couldn't see a thing but I found a hand, a plastic hand. Two plastic hands grasped onto my wrists and began pulling my hands out of the sockets. Suddenly, a hand was on my hair, tugging hard as hell. It was another mannequin. I whimpered in agony but only until one of the mannequins sharp finger nails slid across my throat.
